The Campaign Against Hunger is hiring a Farm Manager. The farm manager will be charged with supervising and maintaining the daily operations of all of our gardens and farms including a 1/4 acre vegetable production farm on Fulton Street between Howard and Saratoga in Central Brooklyn and a ½ acre farm in Far Rockaway, Queens. We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, hard-working individual with prior farming experience, as well as some experience as a trainer or educator. Preferably you will have some experience.

We are a 501c3 nonprofit that was founded in 1998 and works to fight food insecurity in New York City with a Superpantry, mobile food pantry, traveling farm market, low-cost farm stands and health and nutrition classes. We produce approximately 16,000 pounds of certified naturally grown vegetables using sustainable agriculture.

Timeframe: The Farm Manager position is open and we seek to fill the position immediately.



The number of hours will vary with the season but likely will be 30-35 per week. Pay will be very competitive and based on years of experience. Qualifications:
* Commitment to, passion for, and experience with farming using sustainable agriculture techniques (no pesticides).
* Self-motivated, excellent communicator, ability to work well alone as well as with others
* Willingness to work outdoors in all weather
* Able to lift up to 40 pounds
* Eager to learn and able to solve problems independently and as part of a team
* Experience working with volunteer groups
* Familiarity with google drive - sheets, docs, and calendar
* Attention to detail, organized
* Experience working with diverse groups and people of all ages, abilities, races, genders, sexual orientations, religious or ethnic, national origin background.

* Valid driver’s license (ideal but not required)
* Bilingual English/Spanish
* Knows how to operate aquaponics.
* Has strong commitment to food justice values.
* Has provided mentorship and instruction to youth ages 15-24 in all daily farm operations
* Has experience planning, seeding, planting.
* Understand drip irrigation & overhead watering
* Harvesting & processing all crops for sales
* Setting up, running, and breaking down the weekly market stand
* Knows pest, weed, and disease management
* Has experience overseeing production for markets, restaurants, programs, and donations.
* Submitting detailed weight and sales records on a regular basis
* Developing strategies for productivity, efficiency, and engagement with the farm
* Leading workshops, volunteer groups, and regular tours, and social media outreach
* Mulching, trellising, pruning, and tilling
